RiceSelect™ Debuts Products Made with Ancient Grains and Introduces Two Additions to Signature Rice Family Featured

Fit-minded Americans are constantly on the lookout for the next “super food” that will provide an abundance of nutrients and health benefits. In years past we’ve seen the rise of Acai berries, Greek yogurt, salmon and even sweet potatoes. 2012 is the year of Ancient Grains! RiceSelect is now offering two exciting RiceSelect Royal Blends with the addition of several ancient grains including Royal Blend with Quinoa and Royal Blend with Flax Seed. Also joining the RiceSelect family is Brown Jasmati Rice and Calrose Rice giving consumers an abundance of healthy options from which to choose.
“In 2012 we wanted to introduce fresh new products that consumers will enjoy and be 
excited to eat,” said Deborah Locke, Product Manager for RiceSelect. “Combining ancient grains like Freekeh, Quinoa and Flax Seed with our more traditional grains allows consumers to try something new while still getting the nutritional punch they seek. We’re also thrilled to have Brown Jasmati and Calrose rice join the RiceSelect family; they’re both packed full of flavor and nutrients!”
RiceSelect’s 2012 new products include:
  • Royal Blend with Quinoa – A delicious blend combining Texmati® Light Brown with the ancient grains quinoa and freekeh. Quinoa, rich in protein, minerals and fiber contributes a subtle crunch and nutty flavor to the blend, while freekeh, a wheat that is harvested green and then fire roasted, imparts a nutty, smoky flavor and contributes protein, calcium, iron, potassium and zinc.
  • Royal Blend with Flax Seed – A delicate marriage of Texmati® Light Brown, whole wheat pearl couscous, black lentils and flax seed, a seed rich in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, fiber, vitamin B and protein. This blend incorporates the slightly nutty taste of flax seed and whole wheat pearl couscous with the mellow taste and creamy texture of black “caviar” lentils.
  • Brown Jasmati Rice – A fiber-rich alternative to white jasmine rice and the newest addition to Rice Select’s Jasmati offerings. Whole grain brown rice has been shown to lower cholesterol and is an excellent source of manganese, selenium and magnesium.
  • Calrose Rice – A premium quality medium grain rice that is the perfect component in many rice cuisines. This rice holds flavor well and is soft and sticks together, making it ideal for use in sushi. Calrose rice is also one of the most recognized rice varieties in the USA.
