1. Check expiration dates: This is the most important aspect of medicine cabinet safety. To make sure that everything is up to date, pick a date every six months and go through your entire cabinet. If anything is expired, even by a day or two, throw it away!
2. Make sure you have a thermometer: A fever is a sure sign that something is wrong. An electronic one is a great option, so when you check your medicines make sure that you also replace any old batteries to be ready when you need it.
3. Take your vitamins: Taking your vitamins everyday is so important for overall health. When you have a cold, it is also key to ensure that you pump up your body with nutrients. Make sure that you have vitamin C on hand for those occasions.
4. Clean your humidifier: Make sure that you have a cold and hot humidifier at home. This is crucial when you have any chest problems or difficulty breathing. Check your filters and make sure that your humidifiers are clean, should you need them.
5. Stock up on tea: Tea is a great relaxing drink but it can also be a lifesaver when you have a cold. Make sure that you have a variety of herbal teas, and not just green tea, that is loaded with medicinal properties.
