Siegel explains, “This collection is about life in the desert and what that means from different cultural perspectives between South America and India. Spring/Summer 2013 explores the creation of textiles and man’s relationship to them and fuses techniques such as leather embossing, braiding and shibori tie-dying into fashion forward silhouettes.” To complement this look, TIGI US Creative Director Heath Grout infused Siegel’s design elements – embossing, braiding and tie-dying – into a web of intertwined tresses reflective of Siegel’s garments.
Overall Look: Rough, textured, non-traditional, woven braids with splashes of color.
- Prep severely side-parted hair with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Sea Salt Spray and Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo to achieve a really dry, rough texture
- Randomly divide the hair into five or six different sections depending on your hair density
- For each section, separate hair into three uneven pieces – spraying one piece with a temporary florescent hair color of your choice – and continue to braid. Each braid should vary in width and texture – the key to this look is to not be too “perfect.”
- Using the Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo, use your fingers to further rough up the ends of each braid
- Next, snake each braid in different directions around the head and secure in place with pins
- Finish the look by spraying Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray
